The Interpaz Regional Project worked together with children, adolescents, and youths from Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, between 2019 and 2023, to promote actions that prevent violence and emphasize gender equality in order to advance a culture of peace.
With the goal of replicating our initiative in other countries, the Project produces materials in both Portuguese and Spanish, and works towards disseminating methodologies for mediation and non-violent conflict resolution, promoting respect for diversity, and breaking from gender stereotypes and cultural roles that normalize violence, mainly against girls and women.
The goal of a culture of peace is to ensure that conflicts resulting from human relations are settled in a non-violent manner and in accordance with traditional peacebuilding values: justice, freedom, equity, solidarity, tolerance, and respect for human dignity.
To develop and consolidate a culture of peace it is imperative to guarantee the civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights of all people. Promoting a culture of peace and gender equity is linked to the pursuit of social justice and requires eliminating existing inequalities for the full exercise of girl´s and women´s rights.
